about
what was the challenge?
in april 2025, hourglass ai ran a 10-day async hiring challenge. the brief: build an autonomous ai agent that solves a real work problem. any stack, any tools, solo submissions only.
we suggested three tracks: a knowledge brain that ingests and retrieves information, a coding agent that autonomously writes and tests code, or a comms agent that triages and acts on messages. builders could also propose their own.
over 60 people submitted. we interviewed the top candidates and hired from the pool. everyone who opted in to public sharing is showcased here so their work gets the visibility it deserves.
